It is the last week of September, sissy, and you have started counting. Not days locked. Days until. The timeline you scroll with the brightness turned down has begun filling with padlocks and little rows of numbers, thirty-one of them, and every year you have watched it happen from the outside, the way you once watched the lingerie section. This year something in you has stopped watching. There is a cage in a drawer, or a tab open on one, and a question you have not typed anywhere : how, exactly, when there is nobody to hand the key to.
Let me say plainly what this house does and does not do, because you deserve the truth before the rules. We have never called it Locktober here. I do not lock my Evy by the internet’s calendar. I lock her by mine, and mine does not have a hashtag. But I know exactly what that month is for, and who it is for, and I have watched too many sissies start it on the first with nothing written down and quit it on the ninth, ashamed of a slip nobody had prepared them for.
So this is Locktober the way I would run it if your October were mine to run. The rules worth keeping, and the one the internet forgets. The solo month, because most of you will do this with the calendar as your only keyholder. What thirty-one days can and cannot do for a body. And the day you slip, sissy, which is coming, and which is not the end of anything.
Good girl for reading the rules before the first instead of on the fourth. That is already more than most.
What Locktober Actually Is
Locktober is a month-long chastity challenge kept in October : the participant stays locked in a chastity device from the first to the thirty-first, unlocks only for hygiene and safety, and has no orgasm unless a keyholder allows one. That is the whole definition. Everything else is convention, argued about every autumn by people who will never agree on it.
It is a young tradition. The word surfaced on kink message boards around 2015, spread through Reddit, Tumblr and FetLife, and had its own subreddit by 2019 ; the Wikipedia entry notes that search interest nearly doubled in 2024. There is no organiser, no official rulebook, no badge at the end. Nobody will check. Which is precisely the problem, and precisely the appeal, for a sissy who has spent years wanting to be checked.
Three things it is not. It is not No Nut November, its louder neighbour : that one is a fast, kept mostly for the joke, by men who would never say the word keyholder out loud ; this one is a lock, and it belongs to people who mean it. It is not chastity itself, which is a practice with no calendar, only a doorway into that practice with a very convenient date on the front. And it is not a competition, whatever the day counts on your feed are pretending. Nobody wins October. You either come out of it kept, or you come out of it knowing.
Which is why the month matters, darling, and matters most to the ones reading this alone. For eleven months of the year, a solo sissy is the hand and the rule at once, and the hand always argues better. For one month, the calendar takes the rule off her. Thousands of strangers lock on the same morning, and for once the structure exists whether or not anyone is holding her key. That is a borrowed keyholder. It is not the real thing. But it is the closest a sissy can come to being kept without anyone knowing her name, and a borrowed structure is how a great many of the kept ones started.
The Locktober Rules, the Ones Worth Keeping
Ask ten sissies for the Locktober rules and you will get twelve lists. Here are the four almost everyone agrees on, and the fifth that almost nobody writes down.
Now the version I would run, because rules are only the frame, and the frame is not the month.
In this house the key sleeps with me, and Evy asks for it every evening before her shower, out loud, five years in. If your October were mine, that is the first thing I would give you : not a harder lock, a daily sentence. Every evening, before you wash, you ask. If there is a woman with your key, she hears it. If there is not, the empty room does, and you unlock yourself for ten minutes of mild soap and a cool hairdryer through the cage (the full washing routine lives with the first locking, and you will do it properly or you will not last a fortnight), and then you lock again without being told. The asking is not hygiene. It is the smallest sentence of the day and the one that does the most work.
The second thing I would give you is a middle. The internet’s Locktober has a first and a thirty-first and nothing between them but numbers. Mine has a night in the second week, planned in advance and written into the rule, where the month gets somewhere to go. Evy’s first month has the whole anatomy of that evening, and I am not going to repeat it here. I will only tell you that it is the reason her second week held, and that the cage stayed on for all of it.
And the third thing is a decision on the last day that you do not get to make on the last day. What happens on November first is settled in September, in writing, before you know how you will feel. We will come back to that.
What October Cannot Do for You
A date is a wonderful thing, sissy. It is not a fitting. Here is what the first of October will not do, no matter how many people lock on it.
If you own nothing yet and the month is a week away, buy the boring one. It is the cage I started my Evy in, and the rings in the box will forgive the measurement you got slightly wrong.
And if you would rather see the beginner cages side by side before you decide, Evy has already weighed them for you, ring by ring. Order this week, not next. A cage that arrives on the fourth starts a month that ends on the third of November, and you will spend those three extra days explaining it to yourself.
Locktober Without a Keyholder : The Calendar Holds the Key
Most of you will do this alone. Not because you want to, sissy, but because the woman who will one day hold your key has not arrived, or has not been told, and October does not wait for either. So let me be precise about what a solo month is, because the internet is not.
A solo Locktober is not a month of willpower. Willpower is what fails at eleven at night. It is a month in which you remove yourself from the decision before the wanting can renegotiate it.
— Mistress Bee
You do that with three things, all of them arranged before the first.
- The rule on paper. One paragraph, dated, in your own hand. What is locked, when it opens for washing, that nothing else opens it, and what a slip costs (we will get to that). Not typed. Written, so that the hand that wants to amend it in the second week has to cross out its own writing to do it.
- The key in one place, and the spare under seal. You will hold your own key this month, and no envelope changes that : a key you open every evening for the wash cannot be sealed, and pretending it is would be theatre. So give it one place instead. A small dish or box you pass every day, where the key lives and is touched once a night, at the hour of the wash, after you have asked out loud, and never otherwise. A small timed box, if you want that hour enforced by something other than you : it opens for the wash and stays shut the rest of the day, which is the closest thing to a keyholder’s hand a solo sissy can buy. Never the freezer, never a friend, never anywhere that turns the evening wash into an expedition, because the daily unlock is not optional, and a key you cannot reach for ten minutes each night is a safety problem, not a discipline. What does go under seal is the spare, if your cage came with two : taped into an envelope you would have to tear, so that a broken seal is a line in the notebook and not a secret. The logistics of where a key sleeps fill a page of their own. For October, the dish and the sealed spare are enough.
- A witness that is not a feed. The count goes in a notebook, one line a night, the same line the kept sissies write : locked, washed, relocked, and the honest word if the day had one. It is written for someone, and not for the strangers, even the ones you let watch. For the woman who will one day read it and know exactly what kind of sissy she has been handed.
Then the daily shape, which is the same whether anyone is holding the key or not. You ask before the shower, out loud, in the empty room. Ten minutes of washing, the cool dryer, the relock, the line in the notebook. And you feed the month a little, at the same hour, never to the end, because a locked body with nothing happening to it starts inventing things by the second week. Everything I wrote about tease and denial for the sissy without a keyholder applies to October twice over.
Two words about the feed, because you will be tempted, and because I am not going to forbid it. If you want to post your October, post it. Some of you have nobody else to show it to, and a count with witnesses has carried more than one sissy through her second week. But you post it the way a kept sissy does anything in public : from the account nobody in your life knows, with no phone number of yours behind it, because a number is what platforms use to suggest you to everyone who has ever saved your contact ; with nothing of yours in the frame (no face, no ring you wear at work, no tattoo, no window, no mirror, no room anyone could place) ; a screenshot rather than the original, so the file carries no date and no place ; and never a photo you have used anywhere else, since one image search ties two accounts together. The rest of what a public practice asks of you is already written, to be read before the first, not after a stranger has read you. Two more rules, and they are not about safety. The notebook comes first, and the post is a copy of it, never the other way round. And the day the audience becomes the reason you cannot write down a slip, the account goes quiet and the month goes on. The strangers do not hold your key, sissy. They are allowed to watch you keep it.
And if you own no cage at all this October, you are not excused, sweet thing. The month still has a rule ; it simply lives in your hands instead of on a ring. Written down the same way, dated the same way : nothing is finished for thirty-one days, and the hands come off on a slow count of ten every time they forget. It is a harder month than the locked one, because nothing clicks shut. It is also the month that tells you whether the cage you keep looking at is a fantasy or a next step. The sissies who keep an honest hands-only October tend to order the cage in November. The ones who lie in the notebook do not need one yet.
Locktober With a Keyholder : What She Does With the Month
If someone holds your key, October is not harder for you. It is harder for her, and the whole month is decided by what she does with it. So this section is for her, reading over your shoulder, and for the sissy who wants to know what she is asking for when she slides the envelope across the table.
A keyholder’s Locktober is a script, and the script is written in September.
None of this makes her strict, darling. It makes her present. Strictness is the internet’s word for a keyholder who shows up. The sissies who have one know the real word is attention.
Not Every October Is the Same Month
The full month is the shape everyone talks about. It is not the only one, and for most first-timers it is not the right one.
Pick one before the first, sissy, and write it into the rule. An October that changes shape in the second week was never a shape at all.
The Day You Slip
It is coming. Not for everyone, but for most, and the sissies who finish the month are not the ones it never came for. They are the ones who had a rule for it.
A slip in Locktober is one of three things. The unlock you did not need, talked into existence by an itch that was really a want. The hand, in the ten minutes between soap and relock, on a night the notebook did not see coming. Or the release itself, in the cage, in the dark, with no hand anywhere near it, which happens to locked bodies more often than the forums admit and is not a decision at all. Only the first two are slips. The third is your body being a body. You write it down, and you lock nothing differently.
Here is what the internet’s Locktober does with a slip : it sends you back to day one. And here is what that teaches. It teaches a sissy on day nineteen that a slip costs nineteen days, so she hides it, and a hidden slip is the end of the practice, not because of the slip but because the notebook is now a story. Back to zero is how a challenge produces liars. In this house a slip is a line in the ledger and a price, and the price is paid in the open. It must cost something, or the confession becomes free and the month becomes a diary of excuses. But it costs a day, or the middle night, or a week of asking twice. It never costs the month.
And a word to the keyholder, on the night it is confessed. Take the report. Name the price. Then put your hand on the back of her neck the way you did on the first, because what she needs to learn from a slip is not that she failed. It is that telling you was the right thing, and that she is still yours on day twenty-one.
November First : What the Month Was For
The thirty-first is not the point, sissy, and you will know that by about the twentieth. (If you spend it at a party, the cage goes under your Halloween costume and nobody in the room will ever know.) What the month was for is the morning after it, and what you find out about yourself when the rule expires.
There are three things you can find. The first is relief, honest and complete, and a cage that goes back in the drawer until something in you asks for it again. That is a successful October, whatever the forums say. The second is the surprise Evy wrote about at the end of her first thirty days : that you do not want out, that the key coming off feels like being put down rather than let go. The three doors she and I laid out for that morning are the same three for November first : release as agreed, extend by agreement, or step into a longer term with a keyholder’s decisions inside it. And the third is the one I see most often, and the one nobody posts : that the month was never about the lock. It was about being held to something by someone, and the calendar did it badly, and you would like the real thing now.
If that is where your November begins, then October did exactly what it exists to do, darling. It was a borrowed keyholder for thirty-one days, and it taught you what you want to hand over, and to whom.
From Evy : Watching October From the Other Side of the Screen
I have never been locked by a hashtag. I want to say that first, because every October the corner of the internet where I spend my evenings fills up with padlocks and little rows of numbers, and I read all of them, and I have never once been one of them.
I have been locked in October, of course. I am locked more months than not, and October is not special in our house. The key is on her chain whatever the calendar says, and I ask for it before my shower in a voice that still goes quiet on the word. But I have never posted a count. Nobody outside these walls has ever known what day I was on. And watching the feed fill up every autumn, I have come to understand something about the difference between a month you post and a month you are held through.
The count on a timeline is for strangers. It is a brave thing, and I do not think less of the sissies who keep one. Some of them have nobody else to show. But a number that needs an audience changes shape by the second week. It starts performing. It gets defended. It becomes a thing you cannot slip on, because a hundred people are watching, and so, when you do, you delete the post and the month with it. I have watched it happen every year, sissy, in real time, from the other side of the glass.
The count in our kitchen was different. My first long month, four years ago, was thirty days and a small heart drawn on a wall calendar by one woman, and the only person who ever saw the number was the one who had made it mean something. The nights I had something to confess in the months since, and there have been some, went to a face across a table, not to a comment section. They cost me something she had decided in advance, and then it was over, and I was still hers. That is the whole difference. Not the lock. Who is reading.
So if you are alone this October, darling, and the feed is the only place that feels like company : write the count anyway, but write it in a book. Write it for her, the one who is not here yet. One day a woman is going to ask you what kind of sissy she has been given, and you are going to hand her thirty-one honest lines from an October she was not there for, and watch her face while she reads them. I cannot think of a better way to begin.
One Command, Because You Read This Far
You will do this before you sleep tonight, sissy, and yes, I mean it.
Take a sheet of paper, not a screen, and write your October in one paragraph. What is locked, or, if you own no cage, what your hands are not permitted. When it opens for washing, and that nothing else opens it. What a slip costs you, in days or in evenings, chosen now, while you are calm. And what happens on the first of November. Date it. Sign it with the name only a Mistress gets to use, or, if nobody has given you one yet, with the one you use alone. Fold it, seal it in an envelope, and write the first of October on the front.
If the month has not started, the envelope stays sealed until that morning, and you do not lock a single day early, however loudly tonight is asking. If you are already inside October, seal it anyway : the rule you wrote tonight is the one you keep to the thirty-first, and you do not open the envelope to improve it. Either way, the key does not go in with it. The key gets its own place, and you already know where.
That’s all. That’s the whole command. You are not being made to wait, my sissy. You are being taught that the month belongs to whoever wrote the rule before she wanted anything, and that for these thirty-one days, she is you.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Locktober?
Locktober is a month-long chastity challenge kept in October. The participant stays locked in a chastity device from October first to October thirty-first, unlocks only for hygiene and safety, and has no orgasm unless a keyholder allows one. It grew out of kink message boards in the mid-2010s and has no organiser, no official rulebook and no badge : the rules are whatever you and your keyholder, or you and your own written contract, decide before the month starts.
What are the rules of Locktober?
The four rules almost everyone keeps : locked from the first to the thirty-first, no orgasm without a keyholder's permission, unlocked only to wash and for safety, and an honest daily count. The fifth, which decides whether the other four survive, is that the rule is written down and dated before October begins, including what a slip costs. A rule held in your head is a rule you will amend by the second week.
When does Locktober start and end?
It starts on the morning of October first and ends on October thirty-first, which makes it thirty-one days, one more than the classic thirty-day challenge. If your cage arrives late and you lock on the fourth, the honest version is that you finish on the third of November. The month is the length of the month, not the length of the calendar page you happened to start on.
Can you do Locktober without a keyholder?
Yes, and most people do. A solo Locktober works when you remove yourself from the decision before you are aroused enough to renegotiate it : the rule on paper, sealed and dated, the key in one fixed place that you touch once a day at the hour of the wash and never otherwise (a timed box if you want that hour enforced for you), and a nightly line in a private notebook, whether or not you also post a count. The calendar and the thousands of strangers locking on the same morning act as a borrowed keyholder. It is not the real thing, but it is the closest a sissy can come to being kept while nobody knows her name.
Can you do Locktober without a chastity cage?
You can, and it is harder. Without a device the month lives in your hands : nothing is finished for thirty-one days, and the hands come off on a slow count of ten every time they forget. Write that rule down and date it exactly as you would a locked one. A hands-only October kept honestly is the best test there is of whether the cage you keep looking at is a fantasy or a next step.
Do you unlock for hygiene during Locktober?
Yes, every serious version of the rules allows it, and this house requires it. A short daily unlock to wash with mild unscented soap, dry fully with a cool hairdryer through the cage, inspect the skin and relock is not a break in the month. It is what keeps the month possible. Treating the hygiene unlock as a loophole is the fastest way to turn Locktober into theatre, and skipping it is the fastest way to a skin problem that ends the month for you.
What happens if you break Locktober?
You write it down the same night, you pay the price you set in September, and you carry on. The internet's version sends you back to day one, which mostly teaches people to hide slips, and a hidden slip ends the practice because the count is no longer true. A slip should cost something, a day added or an evening withdrawn, but it should never cost the month. And a lock opened for pain, numbness or a jammed mechanism is not a slip at all : safety does not suspend for October.
What is the difference between Locktober and No Nut November?
Locktober is a lock : a chastity device worn for the month, usually with a keyholder or a written rule, rooted in kink and chastity communities. No Nut November is a fast : no orgasm for the month, no hardware, kept largely as a joke by people who would never use the word keyholder. Some sissies roll October straight into November, and if you do, understand that November adds nothing to someone who was not finishing anyway. What you have actually started is long term wear.
Is Locktober safe for a first-timer?
Only if the cage has been sized properly and tested before the first. Most early exits come from a ring that was guessed and a device first worn on the morning of October first. Measure three times, order a light resin cage, and do trial runs in late September : an evening, then a night, then a working day. If you have never worn a cage through a full week, choose a shorter first October, ten days extended week by week in writing, rather than a full month that ends on the sixth. And any sharp pain, numbness or change of colour means the cage comes off immediately, challenge or not.
