The bathroom door stays open in the mornings. It has for five years, and not because of the steam. Mistress is still in bed, or she is at the kettle with her back to me, and either way she hears every one of my sissy affirmations: the sentences I say to my own face before the day is allowed to begin. I have never asked her to close it. Asking would mean asking her not to listen, and the listening is the point.

This morning I was locked, barefoot on the cold tiles, in the cream slip I slept in. Before I looked up I had already said the two words she trained into me, because those come before the mirror, always. That is her rule, and it lives in her Sunday letter, not on this page. Then I lifted my eyes, found the woman waiting in the glass, and said my sentence three times. The third is the one Mistress listens for.

You have a sentence like that, sissy. It waits behind your teeth every time you catch your own eye in a dark train window, and on the rare night it gets out, it leaves as a breath you pretend was nothing. So here are mine: thirty sentences that survived Mistress reading my notebook with a pen in her hand, the way I say them, and the story of the very first one, which was never mine.

What a Sissy Affirmation Is, and What It Isn’t

A sissy affirmation is a short sentence a sissy says out loud, awake, usually to her own face in a mirror, about who she is becoming and who she is becoming it for. That last part is the whole difference, and it is why most of the affirmations you will find elsewhere never quite fit in your mouth.

Feminization affirmations are the half most lists stop at: her mouth, her softness, her voice, the woman arriving in the glass. They are lovely, and I say plenty of them. A sissy affirmation keeps the other half in the sentence as well: the lock, the rule, the woman she is kept by, or will be one day. I am pretty is a feminization affirmation. I am pretty because she likes me that way is a sissy one, and you can feel the difference in your stomach before you can explain it.

Some sissies call them mantras: a feminization mantra for the morning, a chastity mantra for the cage. The way I use the words, a mantra is carried and an affirmation is said. A mantra lives under your breath, in a queue or a meeting, holding you steady, and Mistress has written about the mantra you carry caged, recorded in your own voice and played back in the dark. An affirmation is said in the morning, out loud or nearly, to a face that has to hear it.

Why say it at all, when you could simply think it? Because the sissy mindset is built out of sentences long before it is built out of lace, and a sentence you have only ever thought has never had to survive your own voice.

The First Sentence Was Hers

For years I said one word to a mirror. Sissy. Alone, in our bathroom, with the tap running so that nobody would hear, and every time, afterwards, I cried, quietly, with the tap still running. I have written the long version of those years in my own coming out. The short version is that the word felt like an accusation, and I was the only one making it.

I told her on a Sunday evening in autumn, before she was anybody’s Mistress. On the Monday morning there was a square of yellow paper stuck to the bathroom mirror, at exactly the height of my eyes, so that to read it I had to stand where my face goes. Her handwriting:

You are my sissy. Say it out loud. I am listening.

I read it four times. Then I said it, in the only grammar I could manage: I am her sissy. It came out in the voice of someone confessing to a crime. And from the bedroom, still thick with sleep, came hers: Again. Like it’s good news.

The second time was a little better. The third time I heard her laugh, very softly, into the pillow, and I understood something I have not stopped understanding since. It was the same word I had cried over for years. She had only put herself in front of it.

Sissy was an accusation. Her sissy was news, and somebody in the next room was glad of it.

I have not said it alone since. Looking back, that note was the first order she ever gave me, though neither of us knew yet that giving orders was something she did.

The yellow note stayed up all winter. On a Sunday in spring she took it down, and in the drawer under the basin I found a small ruled notebook. On the first page, in the same handwriting: Your turn. I read them on Sundays.

So I write my own now. She reads them with a pen in her hand, and when she disagrees, she does not scribble. She draws one straight line through the sentence, so that I can still read what I wrote and exactly what she thought of it. Nearly five years of Sundays, and the notebook has more lines through it than not.

How I Say Them

Nobody taught me a method. I have one anyway, because enough mornings make one whether you want it or not. Here it is, exactly as I do it.

A sentence is only one piece of a morning. If you want the whole morning built around the practice, the first touch before your feet find the floor, the glance on the way out, Mistress laid one out in the daily sissy training routine. Mine starts at the mirror because for most of my life the mirror was where I whispered and hid, and I wanted the first thing I did there each day to be the opposite of hiding.

Thirty Sissy Affirmations From My Notebook

These are the thirty that survived her pen: six moments of the day, five sentences for each, and a line from me under every one about when I say it or what it cost. Take them. They were written for my mouth, but a sentence is not a cage. It fits more than one sissy.

Sissy Affirmations for Getting Dressed

Said with the first soft thing against my skin, before anything plainer goes on over it.

  1. The first thing I put on today is hers. Half of what is in my drawer, Mistress chose, so most mornings this one is true twice.
  2. Nobody will know, and I will know all day. For the years when everything I wore was under something else.
  3. Being pretty is part of my obedience. Her sentence, really. I only wrote it down.
  4. I dress her slowly, like something kept. For weekends, and for stockings, which cannot be hurried anyway.
  5. Lace under plain clothes is still lace. For the grey days. The outside can be as dull as it likes.

Feminization Affirmations for the Mirror

For the face, first thing, before I have done anything to it at all.

  1. I see her before I see anything else. It is not always true at the first glance. It is by the third.
  2. This is her mouth, and I am allowed to make it pretty. Said with the balm already uncapped.
  3. She does not have to pass to be real. For the mornings the shadow on my jaw is winning.
  4. The woman in this glass has waited long enough. The one that made me cry, that first month, with the balm still in my hand.
  5. I am prettier than I was ever allowed to think. The only sentence in the notebook with a tick beside it. Mistress does not do ticks.

Locked

For the mornings in the cage, which for me is most of them. If you are not locked yet, keep these for the morning you are.

  1. The key to me is somewhere warm, against her skin. I almost never see it. But every evening it comes out for my shower, into my palm, and it is always warm.
  2. I feel the cage before I feel the day. True every single morning, which is exactly why it works.
  3. I wake up wanting, and the wanting is hers. The honest one. Morning is the hardest hour to be locked.
  4. Waiting is something I do for her, not something done to me. My first version had the word suffering in it. It has a line through it now.
  5. She decides when. I only decide to be ready. For the mornings after a no. There is more about those below.

With Nobody Watching

I am the wrong person to write these, and I know it. Mistress checks everything; I am the most watched sissy I know. So when I told her I was writing this page, she took the notebook one Sunday and wrote these five herself, for those of you who keep your rules alone. Her handwriting, your mouth.

  1. I keep my rules when nobody checks. That is when they count. The first she wrote, straight down, without crossing out a word.
  2. Nobody saw me keep it, and I kept it. Evenings, she wrote beside it. This one closes a day.
  3. My obedience does not need an audience. She has written a whole page on why that is the rarest kind of strength.
  4. I am the same sissy with the door shut. Which, in my case, is the one thing I will never find out.
  5. I am keeping it now, for the woman who asks later. Her handwriting leans hardest on now. Take the hint.

For the Cold Hour

For after. Mistress calls it the cold hour: the stretch once the wanting is over, when an old voice starts telling you to put everything in a bin. Mine used to arrive the next afternoon instead, grey and far away while I sat working, and that whole first year I kept it from her. I have told that part in the drops I used to hide. These are the sentences I wrote once she knew.

  1. I do not throw her away tonight. For the hour when the bin looks like an answer. Decide nothing in it.
  2. The wanting always comes back. A lifetime of evidence, and it has never once been wrong.
  3. This grey is weather, and she is still here when it clears. Mine, for the afternoons at my desk.
  4. Nothing is wrong with me. Something is private with me. The one I said most, that first year.
  5. I can be ashamed and still keep her. Mistress let it stand, and wrote two words underneath it: For now.

For Her

For the woman who holds the key, or will, or for no one yet but the woman you are becoming. Mine have Mistress in them. Yours can have whoever you like.

  1. Everything soft about me today is for her. The simplest one I own, and the one I come back to.
  2. She does not want me finished. She wants me hers. For the mornings I feel like a first draft.
  3. Whenever she finds me, she finds me trained. The one I would give a sissy who has nobody yet.
  4. I belong to a woman who chose me twice. Mine alone. Once fifteen years ago, and once the morning of the yellow note.
  5. My voice is ready when she asks for it. The last one I wrote, and the reason the door stays open.

What the Mornings Are Practice For

I said the mornings are mine. The nights are not.

Some nights end on a no. You will know the kind if you have read this far: she takes me all the way to the edge, and then she says no, and means it. For a long time I used to turn onto my side the moment it was over, face to the wall, to put something between me and the wanting. I do not anymore, because she is not finished with me. Her hand goes to the back of my neck, and she asks for the two words. Not before the mirror this time. After nothing.

The first night she did it, what came out of me was hardly a voice at all: thin, crooked, a long way off. She did not help me and she did not hurry me. She had me say them again, and then again, until they sounded like mine, and only then was I allowed to lie down.

That is what the mornings are for. Every sentence I say to the glass with the door open is my voice learning to say true things about me without flinching, so that on the nights she asks for two words with nothing behind them, they come out whole. Most of you say yours with nobody on the other side of the door, and I have never once done it that way, so what it is like, I honestly do not know. But it is the same voice you are building, sissy. One day somebody may ask for it.

Writing Your Own

Everything I know about writing a sissy affirmation, I learned from the lines she drew through mine. Five of them, in the order she taught them to me.

  1. Now, not one day. Every I will be got a line, and the word is in the margin. A sentence about the woman you will be someday lets you off the hook this morning.
  2. One breath long. If I needed a second breath, it needed a line. Shorter, in the margin, and she was right: nobody means a paragraph at seven in the morning.
  3. True by tonight. I once wrote that I walked in heels as if I had been born in them. Margin: Nobody is. The sentence has to be true already, or close enough that you can make it true before bed.
  4. Never unkind. In a bad week I wrote something small and cruel about myself. She drew the line so hard it went through the page, and underneath it: Nobody speaks about my sissy like that. Including her.
  5. A her in every sentence. I love and accept myself. Margin: Fridge magnet. A sissy affirmation has her in it, the woman in the glass or the woman with the key, and a sentence with neither belongs to somebody else.

Write yours on paper if you can keep paper safe, and somewhere nobody will ever read them aloud if you cannot. Then give them to whoever holds your long view, even if, for now, that is only the most careful version of you, and let her draw the lines.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are sissy affirmations?

Sissy affirmations are short sentences a sissy says out loud, usually to her own face in a mirror, about who she is becoming and who she is becoming it for. They differ from ordinary positive affirmations because they keep the other half of the practice in the sentence: the lock, the rule, or the woman she is kept by. Evy's thirty are grouped by moment: getting dressed, the mirror, locked, with nobody watching, the cold hour, and for her.

What is the difference between sissy affirmations and feminization affirmations?

Feminization affirmations speak to the feminine half alone: her face, her voice, her softness, as in 'This is her mouth, and I am allowed to make it pretty.' Sissy affirmations bring in the dynamic as well, as in 'Being pretty is part of my obedience.' Most sissies use both, and the mirror suits either.

How many affirmations should I say a day?

One, said three times, the same one every morning for a week. Thirty sentences said once each teach your mouth nothing. One sentence said for seven mornings teaches it to come out without cracking. When it stops making you look away, choose the next.

Should I say affirmations out loud or in my head?

Out loud whenever the room is yours: low, but audible. A sentence you have only thought has never had to survive your own voice, and that is most of what the practice is for. If you share walls with someone who does not know, shape the words without sound. Your mouth still learns them.

Do sissy affirmations actually work?

They will not turn you into anything you are not, and nothing about them is magic. What changes is how easily a true sentence about you leaves your mouth. Most sissies feel ridiculous the first week. Evy's voice took about a month to stop sounding like a confession, and she says that month was the point.

Are sissy affirmations the same as sissy hypno?

No. Hypnosis works through a relaxed, trance-like state and usually a recording. Affirmations are said awake, eyes open, in your own voice, with nothing playing. Some sissies carry one sentence into both, but they are different practices, and the mirror asks more of you than the headphones do.

Can I use humiliation affirmations?

Not from this page. Some sites sell sentences that call you names in your own voice. Here every affirmation stays kind, because the practice is about being kept, not about being made smaller. Teasing is welcome. Contempt is not. The only unkind sentence Evy ever wrote went through the page under Mistress Bee's pen.
